Emirates Nursing Association (ENA) In collaboration with the Emirates Health Services – PHC Sharjah, and Abbott, the Wellbeing and Happiness Council at the Nursing Department organized a meaningful celebration in honor of International Nurses Day. The event was held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 09:00 at the Sheraton Hotel in Sharjah, under the global theme “Nursing: The Pulse of the Community.”
The event brought together over 70 attendees, including esteemed guests such as the Director of the Nursing Department at Emirates Health Services, the Director of Sharjah Public Health Centers, and representatives from EMC Company. Also in attendance were leaders from community organizations, local government bodies, private healthcare entities, and non-profit groups.

This annual celebration not only honors the vital contributions of nurses to healthcare delivery but also reflects a growing focus on the well-being and resilience of the nursing workforce. The Wellbeing and Happiness Council plays a central role in advancing this mission by promoting a culture of psychological safety, emotional support, and professional fulfillment. Research and practice consistently show that a focus on well-being contributes to improved clinical performance, lower burnout rates, higher retention, and more compassionate patient care.
Highlighting the Impact of Well-being Initiatives
Throughout the program, attendees engaged in a wide range of educational and awareness-building activities. These included leadership development workshops, professional growth sessions, and interactive discussions on enhancing the quality of work life for nurses. A series of expert-led lectures explored critical topics such as:
Stress and burnout prevention
Work-life integration and emotional intelligence in healthcare
Creating supportive and inclusive workplace environments
Building leadership capacity among frontline nursing staff
By equipping nurses with practical tools and knowledge to manage workplace challenges, the event underscored the commitment of the Emirates Nursing Association and EHS to nurture a workforce that is not only clinically competent but also emotionally resilient and professionally empowered.
Strengthening Collaboration and Community Engagement
The collaboration between Emirates Health Services and the Emirates Nursing Association is a strategic alliance aimed at elevating the nursing profession, supporting continuous development, and ensuring national health goals are met. This event also demonstrated how partnerships with the private sector—such as Abbott and EMC—can further enhance the reach and effectiveness of such initiatives.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences, and receive recognition for their tireless efforts in caring for the community. The event concluded with a message of gratitude and motivation, reinforcing the critical role of nurses as compassionate leaders and advocates for public health.
Looking Ahead
As Emirates Nursing Association continues to invest in nurse-led innovations and workforce development, the integration of well-being into organizational culture remains a top priority. Initiatives like these reflect a forward-thinking approach that values not only clinical outcomes but also the human experience of those delivering care.
This celebration was a powerful reminder that nurses are indeed the pulse of the community—and by investing in their well-being, we strengthen the heart of the healthcare system.
