Empowering Nurses to Transform Global Health under the theme "Nursing Power to Change the World"
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) is set to host its 30th Congress from June 9–13, 2025, in Helsinki, Finland. Under the theme "Nursing Power to Change the World", the event will unite thousands of nurses worldwide to explore the pivotal role of nursing in shaping the future of healthcare. This Congress marks a significant milestone, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Finnish Nurses Association (FNA) and the centenary since Finland last hosted the ICN Congress in 1925.
A Global Gathering in the Heart of Finland
The Congress will take place at the Messukeskus Expo & Convention Center in Helsinki, renowned for its sustainable event practices and strategic location. Situated in the Pasila district, the venue is easily accessible by public transport, approximately 30 minutes from the airport and just five minutes from the city center.

📝 Call for Abstracts and Student Involvement
ICN has received over 10,000 abstract submissions for the Congress, including 784 from student nurses—a first for the organization. A total of 8,449 abstracts have been accepted, covering diverse topics such as nursing leadership, people-centered care, advanced practice nursing, and healthcare innovation . This robust participation underscores the global commitment to advancing nursing practice and education.
Main Sessions and Expert Speakers
The Congress will feature several main sessions led by distinguished experts:
Strategies for Quality and Safety in People-Centered Care: Speakers include Joseph Manning, Marja Harkanen, and Ken Grubbs, focusing on enhancing patient safety and care quality globally.
Advanced Practice Nursing: Seize the Moment: April Kapu and Michiko Moriyama will discuss the critical role of advanced practice nurses in transforming healthcare delivery.
Upholding Professional Standards for Quality Nursing Care: Ahmad Omar Hawsawi, Glory Msibi, and Ingrid Patricia Figueroa Salán will address nursing ethics and regulatory frameworks essential for professional conduct.
