Theme “Beyond Borders: Global Perspectives in Midwifery Education, Practice and Research

On behalf of the Emirates Nursing and Midwifery Association, Khadija Mohamed Sulaiman Al Sulaimi - Midwifery Society chairperson had the privilege to participate in the Saudi Association of Midwifery (SAM) to its 3rd Annual International Midwifery Conference in Jeddah from January 31 to February 1, 2025. The contribution was in a form of a discussion to the importance of clinical practice, education, leadership, and evidence-based research in midwifery practices.

The conference highlighted the vital role of midwives play in promoting maternal and child health. Some of the key themes that contributed to enriching the conversation include the following:


  • The importance of evidence-based practices implementation in midwifery from all aspects.

  • The need for continuous professional development among midwives.

  • Guidelines for midwifery and gynecological care.

  • Nutritional needs for a healthy pregnancy.

  • The crucial role of the midwife in providing utmost care during labor, postpartum, and family planning.

  • Risk assessments during the prenatal period; skills required for effective communication with the mother and her family.

The conference provided a valuable platform for networking and knowledge-sharing among midwifery professionals. Also, provided a valuable platform for networking and knowledge-sharing, fostering collaboration and further advancing midwifery practices. Looking forward to applying the insights gained to enhance midwifery practice and collaboration between our associations.
